What is Oeko Tex Standard 100?

Standard 100 by Oeko Tex is an independent international certificate which tests raw, semi-finished and finished textile products against harmful substances.

There are 4 classes of Oeko Tex Standard 100 (Oeko-texcom, 2017):

  • Product class I:
Articles for babies and toddlers up to 3 years of age (underwear, rompers, clothing, bed linen, terry products etc.)
  • Product class II:
Articles that are worn close to the skin (underwear, bed linen, t-shirts, socks etc.)
  • Product class III:
Articles used away from the skin (jackets, coats etc.)
  • Product class IV:
Decoration/Furnishing materials (curtains, tablecloths, upholstery covers etc.)

Generally speaking, the more intense the contact between the skin and the product and also the more sensitive the skin, the stricter the requirements are. For instance, for a product to be certified as class I and be safe for babies, the highest standards need to be met.

All the Talalay Latex products we offer in our online store are Oeko Tex Standard 100 certified as class I, hence you can rest assured they do not contain any harmful substance for your beloved ones.

Everything you need to know about Talalay Latex

Talalay Latex is a premium bedding material made from rubber tree sap. The sap is mixed with some agents and is undergone a complicated 14-hour process. The result of this advanced process is Talalay Latex which offers a unique buoyant quality that supports your body, yet relieves pressure. The cutting-edge process of producing Talalay Latex and its one of a kind cell structure leads to some great benefits which make Talalay Latex a great choice for mattresses and pillows.

Tension Relief

One of the important steps in producing Talalay Latex is the vacuum process. As a result of this step, Talalay stretches like a rubber band, and when you lay on it, it conforms to your natural body curves.

Support

The unique bouncy characteristic of Talalay offers a great support for your body. In fact, while it conforms to your body shape, it gently pushes back and does not let you sink in your bed. The balance of this uplifting support and pressure relief makes Talalay Latex a perfect buoyant material for a great night’s sleep.

Durability

Talalay is not only great for your body, it is great for your pocket in the long run! As a result of the production process, Talalay has a round cell structure which does not break down easily. So Talalay Latex can last for 15 years!

Dust Mite and bed bug Resistance

Talalay Latex is naturally dust mite, bed bug, mold and mildew resistant. In fact, it is scientifically proven that rubber trees produce sap to defend themselves against invasive insects. Luckily, this insect resistant sap is the main ingredient of a great sleeping material too!

Hypoallergenic

Talalay Latex undergoes 5 stages of fresh water wash. As a result, any soap residue or protein which may cause an allergy is rinsed off so you can rest allergy free. As Talalay is Dust Mite resistant and hypoallergenic, it is a perfect choice if you have asthma or allergy.

Breathability

Talalay Latex has a large cell-structure which lets the air flow. You will not feel hot during your sleep as the Talalay dissipates body heat.

Eco-friendly

The process of producing Talalay Latex is environmentally friendly and agents used in the production do not harm the ozone layer. The main ingredient of Talalay Latex comes from natural rubber tree and all ingredients used are from renewable resources and are biodegradable.
