What is Oeko Tex Standard 100?

Standard 100 by Oeko Tex is an independent international certificate which tests raw, semi-finished and finished textile products against harmful substances.

There are 4 classes of Oeko Tex Standard 100 (Oeko-texcom, 2017):

  • Product class I:
Articles for babies and toddlers up to 3 years of age (underwear, rompers, clothing, bed linen, terry products etc.)
  • Product class II:
Articles that are worn close to the skin (underwear, bed linen, t-shirts, socks etc.)
  • Product class III:
Articles used away from the skin (jackets, coats etc.)
  • Product class IV:
Decoration/Furnishing materials (curtains, tablecloths, upholstery covers etc.)

Generally speaking, the more intense the contact between the skin and the product and also the more sensitive the skin, the stricter the requirements are. For instance, for a product to be certified as class I and be safe for babies, the highest standards need to be met.

All the Talalay Latex products we offer in our online store are Oeko Tex Standard 100 certified as class I, hence you can rest assured they do not contain any harmful substance for your beloved ones.
